The end

The ending of the book really surprised me. The suspense got me going. I had never had the thought of George being able to kill Lennie like that. I thought that George would never hurt Lennie for any reason. I know what Lennie did was not acceptable. But, I do believe that it was better for Lennie to get shot by George, then it would be for him to sit in jail and rot. He would have been killed anyways. All in all, the end didn't make me happy, but its better than him getting killed another way.

Characters in Society

Many of the characters in Of Mice and Men, can relate to people we know in society. For example, Lennie may be known as the kind that gets picked on by bullies, but doesn't deal with it. As seen when Crooks starts to say George isn't coming back(pg.72) Although, George reminds me of the kind people that help out with mentally challenged people and still love them either way. George really caught my eye when he said, "...'Cause I want you to stay with me...(pg13)." But, Curley is lackadaisical with his feelings towards others. He reminds me of the bullies in the world. Curley is always thinking he is stronger than everyone, when he lashes his body around(pg25). Slim is small as well, yet he is strong enough to have his own team to go out into the field(pg23). Curley's wife is another story, she walks around give everyone 'the eye'(pg28) This does not make his wife sound loyal. Carlson is a very welcoming guy. Seen when Carlson says, "Glad ta meet ya.(pg35)." The only colored guy, Crooks, reminds me of  the discriminated black men of todays country, because the bunk men don't accept him. Crooks said, "...there wasn't another family for miles around.(pg70)"
